distorted front right speaker

Can anyone help.
the front right speaker that is on the dash makes an awefull noise when any high notes are sent to it, I have had to set the balance to total left and rear to stop it distorting the music, how do i remove the speaker or maybe just disconnect it.With the tweeters in the door tops do I really need the 2 on the dash. They are nice but not if they aint working.I did have the dealer look at it while it was in warranty but it obviously didnt get fixed properly, now it is well out of warranty and I am looking for a cheap fix.
Thanks

Well, there's a video here that shows how to remove the speakers. Just click on the Videos tab:

I guess the inexpensive fix is just disconnect it or replace the speaker.

Good Luck!

It is very easy - just did this last night. Take a small screwdriver (flathead) and gently pry up the grille on the back edge (edge closest to the cabin). Then there are two Phillips head screws holding the speaker in place.

BSW has nice replacement speakers you can buy at a price. I was messing with mine trying to find a cheaper alternative - the problem is the odd size of these speakers.
