06 4.8is bang for the buck mods?

I'm new to this forum and from my experience it's really good and helpful. 06 4.8is is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Best truck/sav/suv for sure. I've just ordered 31mm rear spacers and am considering other upgrades/mods that have a good bang for the buck return. Looking for feedback on specific experiences with cold air intake, software changes etc. that are big on payback for the $$. Thanks in advance.

Just read through the x pipe replacement for the resonator - this is a huge bang for the buck, exactly what I was hoping for.

Get an M3 or M-sport pack steering wheel. Biggest bang of all mods as you touch the wheel every time you drive. Stock 4.8is wheel has very plastic feel to it.

Is this because of paddle shifting or just the feel of the wheel?

Both! I just did this on my 4.8 and the car is just soooo much more fun to drive. The M3 steering wheel has an awesome feel to it and of course paddle shifting is a hoot.

For feel of the wheel and it is one of the popular mods on E53 X5 for same reason. You can do paddle shifters also if you want...it has been done by some members.

Nitrous

55 shot, relatively safe on the motor and more power then any exhaust mod or intake mod will get you for the same price

I would certainly not use nitrous on a 4.8. Im thinking the steering wheel is a pretty damn good mod. I personally think its too expensive tho. How much did you guys pay for yours? X pipe is going to be very inexpensive and you will def. notice it.
