Went straight through Rita in my new X5

I FINALLY picked up my new ride. I found bought a 2004 X5 4.8is with 6,100 miles three weeks ago, but could not pick it up until this last weekend. I flew into Jackson, MS at 8:45am on Saturday and was out of the dealership by 10am. I set the Nav and was off and running straight for Dallas, TX - right into the hurricane. We had no updates on what Rita was doing, but had plenty of food and water and a full tank of gas. About 100 miles into the drive, things started getting pretty hairy outside with winds picking up consistently out of the south and rain coming in waves. The X5 handled it with no issues whatsoever. There were a few spots of standing water that the wide tires slid over at ~ 60 mph, but for the most part we were able to maintain 75-85 and made great time. Right before driving out of the storm, we came across 2 trucks, a semi and a large U-Haul, that were on their side in the center median as the winds shifted south near Terrell, TX.
The truck was in perfect shape when we picked it up, silver on black and not a ding or scratch on it. Rims were in perfect shape and we even got the BMW seat covers that the previous owner used most of the time - seats look brand new!! I will post pics in a few days. I have to clean her up after the drive.

Great. Congratulations on your new ride, and glad to hear that you made it through the storm. You are a brave soul, I would have let the storm pass before risking my brand new machine!
