hi, my doctor friend just did the switch(mod) w/ his 4.4 when he had his x5. He put a m5 cluster, in it, which he said was the same as 4.6(grey,rings,rpm lights) but it has the m sign on it and it worked fine. It looked great...if you are looking for one i can ask if he will sell it(if he still has it)...for the gas consumption you use your obc. I love it as its prety darn accurate.
good luck!..pm me for details.

How does the oil pressure gauge work then in a 4.4 using the M cluster? where does it get the info (signal) from?

I have mine for about a month and average 15.5, mainly highway driving.
