Clunking is pissing me OFF! UPDATE

I posted before about a clunking coming from what I thought was the passenger side rear end area when I drove over bumps or rough roads. Now I can't place it -sometimes it sounds like it's under the rear passenger foot area or along the passenger side between the front and rear wheels. It definately feels more towards the rear center of the car than the rear passenger side now. It's getting checked Wed. - I notice no difference in performance it's just aggravating me! I've emptied the spare and trunk area to eliminate that - wtf!?!?!?!? What goes bad on the rear suspension of a 2004 4.4 with 61,000 miles anyway?

X5 went to dealer today - replaced the left and right stabilizer links and collar nuts - clunk all gone - drives like new

Stabilizer links - $48.49 each
Collar nuts - $.87 each
Labor - $115.00

Total with tax - $233.24

I think this was a fair deal.

Thanks to all who called this one from the first clunk! John

On a scale of 1 to 10 on difficulty, I would say this is a 2. Total price for me was about $40. I did the labor myself in about 30 minutes. http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...rs-photos.html

I looked at the DIY and had it been summer - or not upstate NY winter - I would have given it a try. My garage floor is just too damn cold this time of year. The DIY posted is very good.
