Question About Trim Paint

First, I want to say thanks to everyone here. I have only had my 2001 X5 for 3 months but have got TONS of info from these forums.
I have the black interior trim but don't wanna shell out $1000 for a set of silver trim pieces. Horribly overpriced if you ask me.
My brother in law has a body shop and said he would paint the interior trim pieces for me.
My question is....does anyone know what colour code the silver pieces are? Either that, or has anyone done this and can you suggest a colour that will match?
Also, does anyone know what colour code or name that will match the titanium grill, as I would like to have him paint my black grill to titanium. If anyone has done this, please let me know what paint colour you used.

I think I'm the only one here with a complete set of Titanium trim. It is all painted with BMW Titanium Silver paint.

Remember the factory paint is WATER based and the clear is formulated to work with it. Search the threads here, I have seen one where they list the Maufacturer of the paint.

Why don't you just replace them with the BMW factory parts here for about $290:

I think the only part it does not come with is the center console. You can always buy that piece somewhere else. Hope things work out for ya!

You could easily get this piece for less through BMW of Bloomfield, NJ. If you want, I can see if I can hook you up with a local body shop here (they can get good discounts too). Just PM me.

Thanks for all of your replies.

TwinsPoppa - It's gonna be cheapest for me to have them painted. By the time I have those ones from Ebay shipped to me, it'll be close to $350 to Canada with taxes, duties and brokerage. I'd rather spend a few bucks on paint and have my brother in law do it for free.

realchef - thanks for the details. your X5 looks great with that paint. I'm gonna call BMW and see if they have that paint for sale.
