X5 E53 problem

Hi,
I am having trouble with my 2002 X5 E53 RHD model with sport package.

My headlight is always on and it switches off only when I switch off the engine and remove the key.
The lights are on all the time and the light control switch is not working. The light is on low beam and no lighting on/off controls are working in the car. The indicator lights , number plate lights and instrument cluster lights etc are also not working.

Also, the instrument cluster is not displaying information like the door opening or the headlight remaining on.
What could be the problem?? I think the light control module is not working. But there is something else also which is not working properly. Which part could it possibly be?

LCM seems to be the obvious problem, but first check to be sure all the fuses are in a normal condition.

Hi,

LCM is confirmed - but I guess this will sort out the problem for lights but my other problem of the instrument cluster still remains. Could this be a problem of a faulty instrument cluster module????

From what you describe the cluster problems are related to the LCM failure as I had the same group of problems. The LCM fault codes are stored in the cluster so they have a closer relationship than being "just friends"!

I would recommend first changing the LCM and see if that corrects the rest of the anomalies. If not then you can then proceed to replacing other components.

LCM needs to be programmed to the vehicle. In my case that was a 20 hour affair at the dealers but was a CPO covered item.

Hi,
I managed to get the headlight problem fixed. Had to do with an error on the codes.

But the proble of my instrument cluster not displaying the working of my left/right indicators ,not diplaying when my headlight is on high beam , not diplaying when any of the doors open still remians. Could this be a faulty instrument cluster??
