Can you get a Aftermarket sat nav comp?

We have a 2004 E53 X5 The sat nave has died althought the tv radio etc all work. BMW has told us its $3392.00 for a new DVDcomp unit!!!!
Does anyone know if there is a aftermarket or oem supplier for these units because I hate the idea of giving them so much money for something thats not as good as a $500 tom tom

Something does not sound right with that pricing..... Sounds as if they are trying to sell you the complete system (screen, computer, wiring and all).

As you can see in the link below you can buy the new updated MKIV computer for $850 or get it for a lot cheaper on eBay.

But what part on your system is inop? Just the NAV computer? Sounds like the screen is fully functional....

They tell us its the Nav comp part number 65909154053. Every thing else works fine its just the sat nave can't find the satelites. Themaps still come on but without the satelite tracking it does not work.

That part number you listed is the NAV computer and yes through BMW it is a $3000 part. You can purchase that piece from EAS or from ebay and it will be a easy plug and play swap.....

Yes, and through some BMW dealers it may be cheaper as well, I have seen dealers selling it as low as 1400.. Prices vary everywhere, 3000 is way overpriced.

check the service menu in the nav if it happens again (go into settings, hold down menu button, secret menu comes up and then go to gps status) see if it says the antenna is having issues.. sounds to me like that may worth looking at too
