Self leveling suspension, Help!!!
I had my local indie mechanic replace my front right air strut on the X5 last week, it had been leaking air from the bladder for some time and finally gave up...... long story short, the shop now tells me that they do not have the correct computer, scanner ?? to reset the ride height, the car is raised up in the back and setting very low in the front and thats all they can do with it. So today they tell me that the car will have to towed the the local BMW stealer to reset the ride height with the proper computer.
By the way the local shop wants me to pay the bill at the BMW stealer and they have offered to pay the towing fee. I would truly appreciate any feed back from the forum. Casey

Yes the computer scanner required to read, reset or calibrate the ride height is expensive! Many indies don't invest in one.

The GT1 is an expensive setup, and now being phased out with the untroduction of the new system called ICOM/ISIS which is not indy shop friendly... But at the dealer resetting the ride height is part of the labor charge, and is likely included in the labor time they are charging you.

Just for the ride height setting at the dealer, with the mechanical work done... I'd say they'd probably do it for 1 hours labor, which varies from shop to shop, but averages $100- $125 usually.
