Tranny Rebuild update

Stopped at the tranny shop this morning. They are gona save the worn out parts inside the tranny. I will take pics when I get the X back. Also They are replacing the rear main seal. They said their was signs of wear and oil. The X has around 113,000. Im getting 1 year 15,000 warranty. Not bad. The dealer wanted $6700.00. Tranny shop $3550.00

Yeah, the dealer doesn't rebuild them, just replace. And I have alsmost never replaced a transmission, clutch etc. without replacing the rear main seal. Just cheap insurance for a cheap price while its easy to get to.

That sounds like a good deal for a rebuilt tranny. I just paid $3K for a used tranny (incl. install) for my '99 ML 430.

Peter Schmid is probably the best place to get a transmission. The warranty is

"Two year unlimited mileage warranty parts and labor on exchange/rebuilt transmissions."

They also stock parts if you ever need them

Most parts replaced at the dealer have two year, unlimited mileage warranty after replaced as well.

I was surprised that the place I got mine from also has the 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on the used tranny. New or rebuilt I would expect it from but not used.

Anyone know how much Peter Schmid charges for tranny job on 3.0 X5? Mine has 110K on it. Live in bay area so want to do the research now. Thx.
