Dinan CAI

Does the filter ever need changed? I can't find my original paperwork and I don't see a replacement filter offered on the Dinan website.

The filter should be replaced if the screen is damaged or punctured in any way, when it is fairly dirty, or every 25k as per the dealer I bought mine from. There is no cleaning kit for this filter.

Personally I think the filter can be cleaned. It depends what filter came with your kit. Do you have the one with the internal baffle or the one that comes with a black sock that slips over the filter?

Repost from another forum...

The Dinan filters come with a Nylon sock, which covers the actual filter.. so you really only have to clean the sock, which traps most of the dust and particles... The filter itself should be replaced every 20000 miles or so imho... depending on where you live and what the conditions are like...

just had mine looked at after almost 50,000 miles - completely caked on front side - fortunately the dealer found new one in excess parts about to be scrapped , nc- will have to remember to check it more often
