Anyone try this on shadow-line trim? Classic TrimCoat...

I polished and waxed mine and they are basically perfect. Before I polished them, they were horrible. My trim is the high-gloss black (Glantzschwartz - spelling???) type. There was one small stone chip which I corrected with touch-up, and from my observation, these gloss trims are not anodised.

I'm jealous! Care to share on what products you used, I'd love to try them..?

Is there any way you could be wrong on the anodized trim? BMW actually issued a service bulletin concerning shadow-line trim.

Caring for Your Shadowline Trim

The polish I used was a cheapo Mothers Scratch Remover that I had left over from some job or other. And the coating was simply carnauba wax in a tin.

Its entirely possible that I am wrong about the anodizing, however since I have never seen high gloss anodized finishes like on my trims, and where I patched the small stone chip, I've never seen anodized finish do that either - it definitely looked just like a coating. I've also never seen anodized surfaces react well to polishing and waxing like the trims on mine, so I have every reason to believe they are not anodized. I also know that my trims are genuine, because I replaced one of them with a newbie from the dealer due to a large imperfection.

It simply needs a polish and needs to be ~sealed~ to keep the trim from reacting with the elements. Any polish in your stash, polish to your *gloss-refinement* level and then use any quality sealer, etc once done.

If it was me, I would use a Sonax 4/6 and then Ultima PGP.
If you were to spend a lil more, I'd skip the Ultima and use Cquartz UK.

The Sonax 3/6 or 4/6 is good stuff. I just used the 3/6 to polish the X5 on Friday. Followed up with a nice sealant (not as nice as cQuartz, but decent).

I'm interested in this too. A high-end detail shop nearby (it's at a used exotic car dealership) suggested that they could clean it using an acid they typically use for water spots. However they weren't really familiar with the shadow line trim.

I have used a Griot's Garage clay bar with some Griot's Speed Shine as lubricant. Then put on some Griot's Paint Sealer or Griot's One-Step Paint Sealer (same thing as the regular sealant but with some polish). It works pretty well but from the video, this product seems better.

Those who have ordered it, please report back! And I wonder if it makes sense to put on more paint sealer after this treatment.

Also, the video shows masking tape. But he doesn't use it. Any idea what that's for?
