Thumbs up New member, just got a 2005 X5 4.4...

Hello all,

First off thank you for all the helpful info this site has to offer, and apologies about the long post...

I just picked up a 2005 X5 4.4, Sapphire Black with the Sand interior, well loaded except for Nav and Comfort seats... I was trying to stay away from a navigation car anyway due to the outdated user interface of it. And I was lucky to get one with the tow hitch. This is the 4th BMW for us (E46 325 and 330 coupes, still have an E92 335i Coupe with a manual that the wifey terrorizes the locals with).

Amazingly enough, I stumbled upon this thing while at a dealership looking for a Land Cruiser. As a previous day's trade in it was sitting on a back lot in all of it's filthy glory, every crevice of the back filled with French fry crumbs and straw wrappers.

The car drove solid as ever, and seemed like a great deal for the 36,xxx miles it had on it. I called my service advisor at the local BMW dealership, and he was able to confirm the car was still under warranty (late 2004 in service date). Sooo... The day before Thanksgiving it became mine for what I felt was a great deal at $22,799 plus tax.

We took it on a 1,200 mile trip over Thanksgiving with two German Shepherds and 5 days worth of luggage in it through two gnarly snowstorms, and the thing still managed 22 mpg according to the OBC. In short -- love it thus far (fingers crossed -- heard too many horror stories of three friends with pre facelift 4.4s).

Would love to post pics, but it's getting an Inspection I and some minor work done -- all under warranty.

Sorry about the rambling post, can't wait to see what this thing is like to live with on a daily basis. And it's getting a V1 hardwired as soon as I can get it back from the dealer.

Thanks, I look forward to being a part of this community.
