anybody know what could be the problem?

i have a 05 4.4I with 52k just bought from a dealers auction off lease. i noticed that when i start my suv is ok but recently a few times i noticed that when i at a light or even parked at times the engine runs at about 500 to 600 rpm but needle fluctuates from 500 to 600 rpm(up and down) but never below 500 rpm(from what i know it should stay steady at 600rpm)does anyone know whats the problem or is that normal?thanks in advance.
