do i have adoptive headlight?

I have an 04 3.0, and it comes with the bi-xenons. is the adoptive headlight an option or is it standard with the bi-xenons?. I don't see my headlight moving when turning right compared to my bro's 06 4.4 with the adoptive bi-xenons which is very noticeable. Also his DRL are on soon as he turns on the key, while mine never goes on unless flashing.

What's your production date? Adaptive only became available after 04/04.
DRL is an available programmable feature that can be done by your dealer.

Adaptive lights only work if you have AUTO option.
On my 4.8is when i turn on the bi-xenons manually( all the way to the right) adaptive lights dont work, they dont move arround with the stearing wheel, but if i have lights on auto, then they move arround with the stearing wheel.
If you have auto use it and it will work

I have a 2006 4.8is. i have the Auto setting, and I leave the switch there always. Am I supposed to have adaptive lights? If so they have never worked from new. How do i turn that feature on?

John

John,

I have an 04 4.8 and I don't think there's a difference between our models.

They are automatically on when you have the light switch turned all the way left (auto position).

You can verify that they are working if these ALL happen:

1) When you turn the light switch all the way left the green light should be solid not blinking. If it's blinking, there's some kind of prob (maybe not adaptive related though).

2) When you start your car at night you should see the lights go through a series of motions. Something like this -The lights fire up and are aimed straight, then you'll see them point down, then back up to the start position. If it doesn't do this then, again, something's wrong.

3) At a stop try this. Turn your steering wheel slowly all the way to your right. The lights should follow and point to the right also. If not, well ... you know.

Hope that helps.

Twinspoppa,

Thanks for the reply. I am with you right up until the end. The green light is on steady on the switch, the lights go through the up and down routine when i start up, but the lights do not move left or right.

Could this be a market specific thing (as I am in Canada), or is there perhaps a setting that the dealer has to activate to give me adaptive lighting?

John

hmm weird, ours don't seem to turn unless we are moving above a certian speed. then they move to make the turns. try that out.

Could be but I kinda doubt it ... check the lights while moving (see below).

Hmmm .. I don't know what to say other than call the dealer and ask them how to do a quick test.

Maybe only in Canada? Mine can move at a dead stop and moving - but they only move right not left.
