About to buy this 2005 X5, ADVICE!!
Great forum!!
I'm about to purchase a 2005 X5 3.0, Black/Dakota Beige, Navigation, cold weather package, premium package, CPO, no exterior dings, 4 new tires, new floor mats, for 26875$. This is the problem I feel like I'm overpaying because that is my nature to hate the stealerships!! This is a present for my wife, so time frame is critical, CPO is a must, and her only requirement when we were looking at them was it must have black exterior that is a limiting factor. She could care less about having a 4.4i, but would like the rims. She cares more about reliability and the 3.0 is that. I've looked all over autotrader and ebay and the price after haggling seems very good, but then I come here and see people buying 06' 4.4is for 28k!! Can't have a CPO........great forum....any input appreciated. Last edited by jasil; 12-15-2008 at 12:56 AM. |

28.2K! It's that CPO that keeps me committed. I guess I have delusions of grandeur that the car will be okay since it has that BMW stamp.
I've been reading constantly and a non CPO 05' X5 4.4i every option car, with the right color interior, 24k/mi, just came up for 27.5K. I've been trying to review warranty direct and similiar to see if buying non-BMW dealership and warrantying it 3rd party is the way to go. You get so much more car for the $$$ I'm fearful of the breakage. I just keep getting paranoid like "catastrophic transmission failure" and then nope we're not covering it from teh 3rd party. Knowing it comes from BMW makes me feel good. |

I just bought an '05 3.0. I paid a little less, but you have more options.
In my case, and I may be wrong, but I figured the CPO was worth a little extra money. At the end of the day, do you feel like you got screwed if you pay 2k more for exactly the car you want? Or, would you rather get a better 'deal' on a car that is not exactly what you are looking for. We went through this last weekend with a used 5-series. While we searching for a little better deal, someone else paid a little more for our perfect car. Only you can answer that one. |

When you are talking about car pricing, the LOCATION of the deal makes a good amount of difference. The deal that can be had in say the middle of U.S. is usually different than what can be had in say SF Bay area.
