help! auto level headlight wire!

hi
i have recently put the OEM headlight back for my 01 x5, and i noticed there is a small wire in the back (i think thats the auto adjusting for the xenon light?)
normally when i started the car, the xenon headlights will go up and down, but since i replaced the OEm, that function is not there anymore, and im wondering if i should connect that small wire to something to make it work?
thanks for all help

Do the xenons light up? If not, could that be the wire that connects to the silver housing that fits over the bulb?

It's a little hard to see if that's a metal connecter coming out the side on the end or is that just a tag?

Maybe someone who has a pre-facelift headlight can speak up ... mine is a post-facelift.

I wasn't aware that 01 models had the auto leveling feature.

The wire sticking out in the pic is a ground. The auto-level connects to the small "triangular' shaped housing. It is a 4 pin plug.
