My new baby - week 1

It's been a week since I bought my 2005 X5 3.0d, and I'm absolutely loving it!

Still coming to terms with the navigation computer though, had a fairly decent touchscreen one in my last car, but it's only a matter of getting used to it. The lady who tells me where to turn is quite polite and sound a little excited when we get to our destination.

I'd really like to update the software, but I'm a little aprehensive about trashing it and not being able to roll it back. I'm only on 4-1/50 though, perhaps I'll get the techs to do it when I get it serviced next.

Found the first aid kit last night too. I've never seen so many medical supplies outside of a hospital. Pity the expiry was October last year, but shouldn't cost too much to re-stock it.

Thoughts so far.

Stereo: How loud does that thing go!? I was thinking about upgrading speakers and amps, but don't think I need (yet!). Wouldn't mind putting the sub in though.

Heated seats: It's still pretty warm here, but had to try them. Man, they get hot!

Overall: Best car I've ever owned. Love it.

Congrats on your purchase! Be careful with those heated seats, it's a common problem in many Xs. Do a search on the words "heated seats too hot" and you will get lots of reading material. Here's one of the links in particular:

Ah, ok, well, they don't get quite that hot! I've never had heated seats before, so I had no idea what to expect, but very impressed with how quickly they heat up.

I have had heated seats in three different vehicles, the X5s are the best. Love 'em.

I agree about the navigation system, though I do like the fact it allows a passanger to input information while the vehicle is moving.
