warranty / wiper motor ?????

I have a 2005 X5 with 45K miles(still under factory warranty)The front wipers stopped working so I took it in. The dealer called and said they took the motor appart and the tech "filed" new teeth in to it. Since I live in North Michigan they said it is NOT covered under warranty and I have to pay $250 for their fix. DOES THIS SEEM RIGHT???

also, to note the wipers worked early in the day and then just stopped with no ice/snow build up. And the dealer said they fix this problem all the time. sounds like a defect in design. I have never had this happen with any of my cars. even ones with 200k miles!!!!

Beat on the stlr...I don't recall ever reading that wiper motor is not
covered for the entire term of the oem warranty. A seperate
UP warranty?! Sounds like a screw job, imo.
