This makes two of us.....in 2 weeks...jluttyX5 and me!

Well I had my car at my Indy last week.....chasing down a p0174.....smoke test, carbon cleaning, new plugs, yada yada.....the X is running like a champ and then last night coming home from the orifice....I am crossing the Q bridge here in new haven ct.......lets just say 4 lanes north and 4 lanes south with no break down lanes and the following happens!!!! Pretty much same symptoms as you will read here.

http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...throttle+valve

Now that you have read this ..... the fix was the same exact thing......Actually I chased this link down and emailed to my INDY ...he read it last night and said he would look at this first for shits and giggles.....The good thing is when he called he said you need a $10.00 part... and he couldn't believe that X5 world is as handy as it is.... Bad news is..I went into eng fail safe and puttered over the bridge ..1 mile long....trying to switch lanes with everyone beeping at me..high beeming me.....flipping me off.......during rush hour..not too mention.....then.... I had to get flat bedded.....so after all that I will be treating myself to some DINAN ENG and Tranny Soft and getting my drl's shut off over the holidays ....That and alot of Makers Mark!! LOL!!

Happy Holidays Gang! ........and heads up on this piece that seems to go and get caught in the throttle valve!
Rich

Sounds like your indy may be to blame..since he had the intake elbow off while doing the work. Glad you got off the bridge safe..thats a real crappy situation to be in...hope everthing is solid from now on

Thanks for the PM thanking me for the post.

I am so glad my experience spared someone another "boat" trip at the dealership- Break Out Another Thousand.

Second daughter is probably being born tonight.

I AM WIDE AWAKE!!!!

I could have sworn it was about $30 to have it done on my 3 series...

Yeah, I know but .. tell THEM that!

That's why I wish sometimes I'm in another area where things are less expensive or have more shops/dealers that don't charge an arm and a leg. The DC metro area doesn't have as many options I think.

Like the X-pipe .. supposed to be $100 but I paid $275 I think. And I checked around but maybe not enough.
