That would be coolant, not oil. Oil is golden, brown or black.

It might be that the coolant reservoir is broken or some of the hoses might have a hole

I know you think that is cute, but what are the chances that is even relevant to a person who doesn't know what color coolant is? Are they likely to have paid double per quart against OEM recommendation to switch their X5 to it? No. Let's not confuse the issue of this thread. I have RP in all my final drives. I also have orange coolant in my GM, but that is hardly pertinant now is it?
