I used to use the BMW Gummi-Pflege (Rubber care) product back when it came in a green tube on door seals, etc. and it worked great. If this is the same stuff but in a spray bottle then you might think about using it on door window seals.

My winter fixes.....

Nozzles do not freeze anymore, I just bought the blue washer fluid rated to -20 degrees

Wipers do not skip, bought Rain-X Latitude wipers.

Door handle does not freeze - Had the carraige assembly replaced, there is a cable inside the door that has a rubber type cover and it basically rots, cracks and then the cable rusts, so once it gets wet it freezes.

Greetings from Northern Norway. I'm driving my third BMW up here a bit over the polar circle. You probably already know this, but anyway I'll mention some tricks we use up here to avoid door and lock problems on any cars during wintertime.
Washer fluid is guarantied for -30C, but you usually don't use the washing system when it's more than -2C anyway. Of course we regulary apply silicone oil on the door gaskets through the winter. When washing the car we always tape over the key holes to avoid water penetration, and during the winter we lubricates the locks with graphite oil.
Most of us choose to have a engine(+coupe) heating unit like Defa installated.
I never experienced any winter related problems with my BMW's, at least until now. I'm not sure if it's related to winter, but last week my X5 seems to have gotten a serious brain damage, but thats another other thread.

Do you know if BMW sells an engine block heater for the X5 in Norway? I know BMW Canada (makes) and sells one for the E46 3 series engines. I've never seen one for the X5's though.

Even if they did, it would be 230 volt.

BMW Canada don't make anything, they have sourced something locally and added it into their parts system.

If you want to add a heater to the X5, get the stick-on silicon pads that attach to the oil pan. Several suppliers carry them, and I have provided links for them previously.

I'll check out those links. I'm just amazed Saab, Volvo, etc. still sell engine block heaters in the USA and BMW used to but now for whatever reason they do not.

Check out the one for the E46. Made in Canada.

If you buy a voltage converter like this one (75$) you're ready for the complete car heating system from DEFA. I haven't been able to find a US distributor, but this one in UK may be ok. The may even have 110V solutions.
DEFA is a well proven full range car heating system developed and produced here in Norway for ages. It's not difficult or expencive to install and have special developed products for the mostselling cars in Europe. For X5 there are different solutions for each engine.

Thanks for the link. Similar to the models available in North America for BMW engines, this link shows external heaters that sit against the block and/or oil sump. We have them here from various suppliers. The other DEFA products, such as interior car warmers, are available here but not from DEFA, to my knowledge. DEFA do appear to have a full product line.
