Retrofitting side view mirrors onto E53

Hi guys,
Shortly after my X was keyed leaving almost $4K worth of damage another angry @*#K came along and broke off my drivers side mirror.
At this point my beloved doesn't look the way it's used to and I really want to start fixing it already.
I'm not sure if anyone of you ever had to replace side mirrors but these are
not easy to find and cost quite a penny as well
After searching around for few hours I know i won't be buying Hamann mirrors - about $1400 a piece plus shipping plus painting for something so ugly... ughhh,it doesn't do it for me... anyway
I'm considering retrofit and really need your feedback,
I like the M5 style mirrors but don't remember seeing these installed on the X so any info on that will be appreciated.
Besides if anybody ever tried retrofitting E70 X5 mirrors onto E53, or E71 X6
If you seen mirrors I didn't list, give me an idea because with the amount of money I need to spend on fixing it I would rather upgrade,
