Okay, let's compare them ...
OEM Aluminum RBs: * Only $170 more (add $25-$30 for the rivet gun if you don't have one) * More useful if you want true RBs * Comes with 4 new wheel arches (kit just won't add parts but actually replace some possible worn looking parts) * True OEM look and finish * Adds more to car resale value * Fairly easy DIY install Do I really need to list anything for those faux RBs? If you're on a real tight budget and/or just prefer the looks of those non-OEM RBs then IMHO its a no brainer. Hope that helps and good luck! |

I like the aftermarket ones too. At first I did not realize that the OEM ones were a whole new step that stuck out further than the existing ones. I like the look of the aluminum with out the added width.

The Bavarian ones are overpriced and less functional. They might be a good choice if you don't really need to step up and if it was $200 less. For about the same price I'd choose OEM.

the choice is fooking clear, OEM. Why would you want something that not functional, looks ugly and cheap on your BMW? Those aftermarket ones will screw you up man, they use adhesive and 2 little rivets to hang out the plastic sides. not functional and cheap solution.

Where are you guys finding OEM RBs for around $500??? The X5 Accessory book I have (which is old my dealer told me when I went in there to get some stuff) shows the RBs are nearly $800
![]() My girlfriend is 5'0" and was already looking to use the stock bits as a step, which I don't think it was really intended to be so I'm thinking this might be a required mod for me. Also, where would be a good place to get the rivet gun mentioned as being needed for the install? Any advice on brand/model to get? |
