bluetooth problem

hi fellas. i have an 04 x5 which i had my motorola krazer phone hooked to he bluetooth in car. phone died so now i got the blackberry storm and the truck will not let me connect , keep saying no device found. According to the dealer it could be that the old phone is locked in the system and wont allow me to pair the devices. Any help would be really appreciated. thanks

I am assuming that you have the Motorola BT module, and not the Visteon version. If so, see http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...tooth-ulf.html

Just to confirm, you are saying that you did have a phone previously paired with the vehicle, correct? The 2004 did not come from the factory with a working Bluetooth module, so for it to have worked with another phone then either you or a prior owner of the vehicle would have had to replaced the Assist module with one from a 2005 or 2006.

From what I have read and understand you can have multiple phones hooked to the bluetooth. For example my husband and I both have phones but the car only picks up the phone that is within range of the car. Not sure what is going on but I also did some research on the types of phones and found alot of people who were having problems with various phones but the Motorola actually was suggested as the one that had the least amount of problems. Not sure if this information is any help but just thought I would throw it out there.

I had a ton of problems with my BT before looking into detail on this site -- I have an 05 X and my Storm paired fine. Try moving the phone in different areas in the car while pairing -- I held my close to the nav unit and it grabbed it quickly...now whenever I get into the car it automatically pairs. Gotta say that the BT module through the Nav isnt very user friendly anyway...I usually just stick to the wired headset that comes with the blackberry...

Good Luck.

It can be done, you just need to replace your TCU with a newer one (from an 2005 or 2006). See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...04-bmw-x5.html and http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/As..._Bluetooth.pdf
