Intro and Question
I'll be picking up my 2004 3.0 sterling grey on black SAV this Saturday. Can't wait, for sure. This will my 3rd bimmer, sold my '88 325is, now I drive a '97 328is modified with m3 cams, 3.23 lsd and other driveline goodies. That car will be stored, so I can fully enjoy the X5 in our wintery conditions. Did I mention I'm in Toronto, and it's freakn' cold today! Here's some pics of my new car, it's only got 79,500 km or 49,088 miles in US talk. Was traded in for a Q7 so I picked it up from a local Audi dealership, they only had for like 3 days till I snatched it. My question is, can the black chrome exhaust tips fit over the stock steel muffler tips? I gave up looking for a clean Sports package version when I saw this clean premium with activity package one, but I really like the way the black tips look. Will they fit over the normal single tips if I buy them and try to slip them on? ![]() ![]() ![]()

:xoutpost: Congratulations on your new ride. I love Sterling Gray.
Yes, the black chrome tips should go right on. You could also consider different tips altogether. Do a search and you will find different examples.

thanks, good to be on here. It's my favorite color on X5's
I really like the OE look of the black tips and the fact they are tilted down is specific to the 3.0, I like the original feel they give off. But after doing a search there seems to be some interesting options for modfications to the tips and exhaust system in general, lots to consider. |

Welcome!
You will love it. I suggest you get some rubber weather mats soon.

^ yeah man, I'm all about proper floor coverage, just looking at that pic of snow on the floor gives me the erks. I outlined and extra 4 inches around the stock mats and cut out oversized carpet undercoverings for my e36 that go under the OE rubber ones. I found the rubber ones where too small and didn't protect the tan carpet very well at all.
Actually in the boot of X5 I saw the rubber (and fabric) mats where there, so the car comes with them already, just that where in the back. But the drivers side rubber mat is pretty worn; I gota get some reinforcement or replacement for that one. |
