Rear View Mirror display
I have an 2006 E53 4.4i. The rear view mirror displays direction. Since I have a NAV, that direction is useless so I want the rear view mirror to display external temprature or something else..I can see that by shining a light at the led display it is capable of displaying other things such as temp etc..but haven't found any controls to make it work. Another question..has any one figured out if you replace the cassette deck behind the NAV with a single CD player or changer...I know about the trunk changer and all the details. I am talking about replacing the cassette with the CD player/changer behind the NAV. Judd. |

Unfortunately, I doubt that replacement of the cassette deck is possible without a complete re-engineer of the unit. That stupid cassette and the miniature cup holders continually baffle me.

Yeah my E53 was manufactured 9/2006 and was actually sold 2/2007, yet it still came with a cassette player behind the nav screen!!! I mean, hello, who uses tapes anymore?? And on top of that, it has the CD holder in the center console storage area even though the changer is in the back. They must have had fresh grads work on this part of the car or something...
Even funnier still, just today I asked the dealer to replace the useless CD holder with a plastic storage bin and he quoted me $460... yes, for a small plastic part that isn't worth more than $5. Someone's on crack. |

I posted the same question a while back and no one's figured it out yet. Would be cool though!
