Driver's Side and Passenger Side Window Tint?

I was just wondering how many of you have tinted the driver's side and passenger side windows. I'm getting mine done this Wednesday. I want to get it either the same tint as the back or just a bit lighter. Does anyone know the tint of the back windows, and did you go darker or lighter then the back.

Thanks for the help!

JB

I have both my driver's side and passenger side tinted to match the factory tint on the rest of the car..Make sure you tell them you want 20% BLACK...20% Black, is the matching tint..There are all different shades of black that they use, some don't match..Tell them you want the blackest color film they have, and make it 20%...If you go 35% it will be too light and won't match..If you go 15% or lower it will be too dark (won't match) and then it becomes a safety hazard trying to see out of them while driving at night..

Also, if you're gong to tint I recomend 20%..Anything lighter like 35% will pretty much serve no purpose as it will not block out much sun and it will not match the rest of the factory tint on the car...It looks wierd..Go with 20% black..You'll be happy.

You need to be aware of the safety issues, as other drivers will not be able to make eye contact with you. That is why it is illegal in most jurisdictions to tint windows ahead of the B-pillar. Your local law enforcement may or may not ticket you for it. If you are ticketed, you often have to remove it and show them that it has been taken off. If you are in an accident, it can be cited as a contributing factor. At the end of the day, it is your vehicle and your decision, but there is a reason it isn't tinted.

The reason it isn't tinted is because laws vary from state to state. Some states allow the front door windows to be tinted others do not. Some states allow them to be tinted to a certain percentage also.

Thanks for all the info. Do all of you agree with 20% black? Just want to make sure I have the right tint so it doesn't look different.

Thanks again for all of your help!

So, from checking the link that mrkbbd provided, it appears that Missouri (Kansas City) allows only 35%, and you recommend going to 20% to match the rears. It also appears that Illinois, where the OP lists he is from, doesn't allow any tint. Only one state (NM) allows 20%. Hmmm.

Edited because dumb Canadians don't know that Kansas city isn't in Kansas, lol

here's a site that lists all the states:

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/

looks like NY allows 30% for front and back. says must allow more than 70%of light in - so i'd assume 30% tint right?

I just had my driver/passanger windows done with the lightest tint they had and it looks just fine. If you go to dark , chances are you will get a ticket. It is also another reason to pull you over if they want to. Going light attracts less attention and dose the job. . By the way, is the lower half of your X painted a darker silver or grey?
