Rubber/noise when turning to the left, HELP!

Hi,

I have a 2003 X5 3,0 DA. with servotronic.

There is a rubber/noise when i turn all the way to the left, the noise comes when i straighten up the car again. Rubbering noise with vibration in the steering wheel, drrrrrr noise. The noise isnt there driving normaly or when i turn normaly, not always when i turn the car to the left, comes when i am backing my car aswell, turning the wheel all the way to the left and straighten the car up again.

everything is are ok in the front of the car. most of the parts has been change.

Fluid level ok!
Steering gear change in 2006 at km. 55.000 the car has been droven 80.000 km since the gear has been change. Could it be this again? maybe its straight behind the steeringwheel`? the 4x4 making some noise?

BMW and a local workshop has looket at the car and can't find anything wrong!

Someone, any good ideas?

Excuse my english!!

It seems like the noise is from left, because no sound when turning to the right.
It comes when i turn far to the left, but the sound seems to come from the steering wheel. Noise with slightly vibration in steering wheel. not always. And it is when i turning back from left again. noise and Vib. and then ok. i cant feel slightly vibration in the floor aswell when this happen.

Description when turning.
Turning all the way to the left, turning back again, sound drrrrrrr and vibration, then ok back to center again.

I have had numerous causes for such noises come through the shop. Anything with a ball socket like the control arm, thrust arm, tie rod, etc. can do it, but from what you're describing, I'd suspect it to be from either the strut or upper strut mount. I've had one of my struts start with a bad creaking when turning a certain way like that just after putting the dinan camber plates on it... had to replace the struts to get rid of the noise.

Nothing beats getting a proper diagnosis though... If the dealer couldn't find the cause, then ask for a tech that is more experienced with suspension diagnosis to look at it, and tell them you already paid for a diagnosis of the problem, but didn't get it yet and they may look at it again with no out of pocket.

I wouldn't throw money and parts at it until you can figure out exactly what part(s) are the culprit. Not being able to physically check it out myself I can't wholeheartedly suggest any parts myself.

But as for what struts are, they're just shocks with the springs on them. Here's a link to show the struts:

And here's the upper strut mount parts:
