Lowering my 2005 4.4

I am about to get some loering springs for my 2005 X5 4.4. Am I correct that the rear is Air and the fronts are coil? I'm guessing so because the other day I got an air suspension lelve inact warning but it went away.

So when I change the fron coils will the back automaticaally adjust or so I need to modify the sensor links?

Thanks

Yes that is correct! You have self levelling rear suspension, its has to be lowered by the dealer, and just get springs for the front. I had this done on my first 4.6is.

Did you find your own GT1???

And FYI, BMW now has a more complicated server based system just fresh out called "ISIS" that is a pain right now as they are still working out the bugs... But rumor has it that BMW will remove all the GT1s from the dealers once the new system is fully implemented as the new software updates for the GT1 has already been ceased and they will not be able to work with any new body style BMW F01 and up...

If you have rear air, and you replace it with a steel spring... you will have the "self level suspension inactive" message on indefinitely!

The steel lowering springs for the rear are better left to the 3.0i's that don't have rear air.

As for the price, you'd probably need to call the SA. As for other options, there are some adjustable links available for the rear level sensors to trick the rear suspension into thinking the X is sitting too high and it adjusting itself down.

I don't remember who made them or who has them now, but I'm sure a quick search should yield results.
