Motor Sound System (MSS)
I've read that the M54 engine has a module in the air ducts, connected to the engine in a way that generated this roaring sound on high RPM, whose objective is to create the special sound for the passengers... Quoting document E85 M54 engine: "Motor Sound System (MSS) The Motor Sound System is a membrane system for modulating and transmitting the intake system pressure pulses to the passenger compartment. This generates a sporting sound that is typical of a roadster. In this market segment, BMW is the first manufacturer to deliberately transmit pressure pulses from the intake system to generate sound in the passenger compartment. The MSS is only installed on the M54B30 engine." The 3.0i 2001 has the M54B30 engine, no? can you confirm? so do i have the MSS???

No, I think they only put that on the E85's... which is the Z4 convertable.
