Unhappy X5 at dealer: Needs new DME and cluster

Fuel gauge was not working and I got the "Engine failsafe Prog" last night. Called the dealer early morning and they asked to bring it in. SA called back later and she said that they have to order the DME and new instrument cluster and my baby will be at dealer till Thursday. I hope I did not do any more damage as I drove 45 miles to dealer. Asked the same question to SA and she says it should be ok. This is the first time my 4.8 will be sleeping over at dealer. I am missing her already . I got a crappy 2006 Hertz Ford Taurus to drive for next few days.

I do have to say...I am impressed with my dealer so far. My 4.6is is getting some odds and ends done before I pick it up next Saturday. They gave me a new X3 3.0 to sport around in.

he he, rental cars go faster, corner on two wheels, stop harder, don't need to be cleaned and can go off road like the X5!!!!

Update

My 4.8is is still at dealer. The DME they got was defective so they ordered another one. Will have to wait another few days. I can imagine how Pepatrick feels for his 4.6. I am missing my X5 4.8. My first weekend without my 4.8is. They gave me an X3 3.0 yesterday to spin around. The X3 is nowhere close to my 4.8 but still not bad. Only one cup holder in front

Dude, how do you guys get BMW's as loaners? I'm cruising around in an 04 F-150 while my X is getting a new CV boot. I may have to resort to intimidation if I ever want a BMW loaner.

LeMans, have fun wringing out that X3! Where's the powerslide smiley?

You need 2-3 weeks advance notice with your dealership that you're bringing your car in. And of course it makes a world of a difference if you know someone well from that dealership

The best off-road vehicle is a rental.
