05 Navigation/Single CD player

I just bought an 05 X5 and have figured out that the previous owner changed out the "standard" navigation computer/single Cd player to a nv/cassette (standard in the 04 i believe). Does anyone know if I can switch out the cassette for a single CD player without changing out the navigation unit?

The E53 X5 (model year 2000 - 2006) only came with a cassette behind the nav screen and having a CD player was not an option. The only nav screen that had a CD player was for the E46 (3-series), and it has different physical dimensions, so it cannot be directly swapped into an X5

thanks

Huh - bummer - thanks! Looks like I'll have to settle for a CD changer! I can take the dealer off the hook now for advertising it with a "single CD player"!

My suggestion is to forgo the CD changer and install an iPod interface instead. Since you have nav, check into the Intravee-II system. Dice Silverline is also a good unit.

I'm going to install a CD changer as well, if you buy one off ebay just know they sell a few versions:
- w/ and w/o DSP
- MP3 capable and non-MP3 capable.

The $350 ones are the MP3 capable the $195 ones are not.

there are people who've dismantled the nav unit and installed the business cd in place of the cassette player... I was never able to find a DIY on this however.
