Question Symptoms

What are the symptoms of a failed window regulator. I tried to search but became confused of weather it could be the regulator or the switch.

The window went down last night but wouldnt go back up. At the point that it would stop going up (just under halfway) it would continue to go all the way down and i could get it to go back up to half way. But as it was doing this it was making a "cracking sound" I got out of the car and just pulled the window up while using the switch to get it back up since it was about 18 degrees here last night lol, perfect time for a broken regulator. Is anyone able to clarify what has broken?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like your regulator is dunzo. It's a $100 part and an easy DIY if you have another set of hands. Having it done at the dealer will run you $500+ with labor.

Don't touch the window switch anymore! If you continue to try to put the window up, you will ruin the motor...which is a $500+ part itself!

Thanks for the reply michelle. Yeah i told the fiance no more passenger window lol. Guess the only good thing is that it is still winter so the window doesn't go down that often now any way lol. Now, that $100 price is that from realoem.com, or the dealer?
