Which tires do you have on your 4.8is?

I just bought michilens in august for my rears almost 500$ a piece and now they are completly bare. No tread on the rear. I need to find a cheaper tire that is going to last longer. Does anyone know a good tire for the 4.8is that will last a decent time. Thanks.

Dang ... how many miles did you put on those things since August?! Might want to mention the model of the tires too.

Did you have uneven wear like on the insides? If you do, maybe some suspension parts are worn or you can take some negative camber out.

Sorry, I don't have enough experience with the X to recommend anything. I have Yokohama Advan STs (high performance summer tires) currently. Do some searches and I bet you find some good threads.

At the most i have put on 10,000 miles since august. The tires are worn bald right down the center yet the outer edges are fine. I have let a substantial amount of air out therefore i know over inflation is not the issue.

Strange - it sounds like it's overly inflated. I mean, if there's any uneven tire wear, I would suspect something is off on the car - not the tires. Have you taken your car to a shop to be inspected. Thats what I would do. Otherwise, you're looking at expensive lessons - as you are already aware.

What PSI are you running? I think mine are 32.

you could have your toe non-neutral. I'm sure bmw dials in more tow-in for higher speed stability, but it does wear out the tires.

have this checked, and have it set closer to 0 deg.

the michellin diamaris tires on my 4.6is lasted 28k miles and still had some tread left. only changed them cause they were from 2003 and had some dry rot.

I currently have the Bridgestone Dueler tires in the back, and they are awesome. The Michelins are the worst piece of crap ever put on any car.

Prior to the current X5, I had them on my Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and the rears were gone after like 7k miles. Just the way they are designed. Ultra soft rubber compound, designed for "optimal performance" and of course, optimal robbery of your bank account.

I had the Continental Conti-Sports on my 2003 4.4 on 87s, and they were fine at 22k miles when I traded it in for the Cayenne...

I would not put on Diamaris if the President of Michelin personally called me and offered to give them to me free of charge!

I also have Yokohama Advan STs. Only put about 4,500 k's on them so far. Wearing well, still look new. Very good handling wet and dry plus nice and quiet.

Hey twins, I'm running mine at 40 psi as per advice from the tyre shop guy where I bought them. That's a big difference from yours. I wonder if mine, being 19" would make any difference. I check the tyre pressure every week as these puppies cost me around $550 Au $ ea.
