Opinions on these X5s?

Hey everyone, I'm currently looking for an X5 to purchase in Alberta, Canada. I've previous owned a 325ci and loved it, so I'm glad to be going back to BMW. Here are a couple X5's I have my eye on. They have virtually the exact same specs.

- What should I expect to pay for something like this?
- What questions should I ask?
- What options should I go for?
- Should I be looking for an extended warranty?

First X5:

Thanks!

The ad doesn't have it listed, but one of the pictures shows the odometer at just over 58,000kms.

I'm rushing off to the airport so I don't have time to look at both ads. Just want to say that I'm in Edmonton too!

Yup I'm in Edmonton too! I saw both of these ads before when I was looking at x5's for my cousin. They both seem very nice but I think I like the first one better because of the color but it's your choice which color you want.

Before buying one of them get it fully inspected by a dealer. When I bought mine I didn't think of getting it inspected and found out the next day it had a broken seal which made it leak oil. I was lucky I had warranty to cover that problem. Ask the person selling it about all of the service records to see how it has been taken care of too.

Both x5's should have warranty until 2010 or 80,000km but If you are going to be keeping it longer then that then you should look into some aftermarket warranty.

As for options I think you should check for heated seats and heated steering wheel. They help a lot in the winter. They both don't seem to have sport package and that seems alright because mine has sport package and on the streets here it gets fairly bumpy due to the stiffer suspension setup.

BTW which dealer did you take your past BMW to? Edmonton BMW? That's where I go and I hate the service representative there. He doesn't ever know what he is talking about and is very impatient.

Thanks. I do like the black one better as well. So they both should still have the 4 year manufacturer warranty. What's the general consensus on the extended warranty? How much does it cost?

What about the price? How much room do I have to negotiate the price?

Does it look like these models have the panoramic sunroof?

I took my previous BMW to the dealership on 66/75th street and roper road (i think). This was a couple years ago though, I found the service to be great. Whenever I came in the guy I dealt with in the service department was helpful and often had the mechanics look at the car on the spot and fix any minor problems for free.

They should both have the original manufacturer warranty for 4 years. So it should end in 2010 or when the kilometers reach 80,000km. Extended warranty doesn't always cover everything. I'm not really sure about everything that is covered because I talked to Edmonton BMW and they told me my extended warranty only covers things which is in the book that the service manger has. They wouldn't give me an idea of what was covered. Do a search here and you should find a lot of information on extended warranties. My extended warranty was included with the truck when I bought it so I have no clue about how much the charge would be.

The prices of the trucks could go lower especially if it is a dealer because they are trying to be getting rid of all the big gas guzzlers on the lots. I'm not exactly sure how much room there is to negotiate but there should be easily about 1-2 grand, perhaps more. Can't help much with the price, sorry.

I can see in the picture that the first one has panoramic sunroof. Can't see in the second one but I think it was standard on 4.4i's after 2004.
