e70 lights on the e53? (puddle lights?)

Hi Gang, not sure if I'm using the right term... in searching to see if it's been discussed I see some references to both puddle lights and courtesy lights. When we bought an e90 for my wife I was pretty jealous of the LED's (assumption) on the door handles that light up so bright when I unlock her car. Was thinking that my buddies e70 has the same thing so I'm wondering if we can take the e70 LED's from the outside door handles and put them onto the e53. Anyone done this?

there are some aftermarket kits that just stick onto the bottom of the car and are connected to the remote locking, one of the forum sponsors sells the kit
