Take the cap off, if you can, and see if there is fluid in it. ALso, look and see if the cap has anything that says Pentosin 11.x CHF on it. If it does, then it is the reservoir for load the load leveling system. I could be way off also, but more detail could provide a more certain answer.
Perhaps it is the charcoal filter for the vaccuum system/emissions system. Are there wires or hydrauic tubes, vaccuum lines running from the bottom? What do any stickers on it say? Is it called out in your owners manual? Hopefully This helps in some way.
