Oh No!...Dripping from overhead console...

Just noticed dripping from the overhead console - thank God for cellphone cameras (see arrow)

Didn't rain THAT much Friday AM, but I noticed this driving home in the PM. Can't imaging the water coming from anywhere else but the moonroof - I believe water flows DOWN. I've read the previous posts and scheduled a dealer visit for Wednesday. Will update.

Yep. I had that last year. It sucks.

I've also been trying to figure out how there are dead fruit flies in my dome light...

Sorry to hear man. Hopefully you just need to clean out the drain holes and not have to replace the cassette.

you may want to check and see if your windshield was also just replaced. can be the drains OR the glass.

I guess BMW got sick of replacing so many cassettes under warranty so they came up with a ton of different fixes that involves just a few parts here or there. Evidently now full cassette replacement is much more rare.

Seems like this is not a rare problem on the X5. I really don't care HOW they fix it so long as they fix it ONCE and do it right.

I had the same problem with a 1996 Ford Explorer. It needed 2 trips to the dealer to fix. The FIRST time in the tech checked it out and lubricated the tracks - he found NO LEAKS. Two days later in a spring shower it was still leaking. Turns out - I could not believe this - the first tech found no leaks since it wasn't raining and he did not test the truck with water from a hose. Either he was an idiot, a lazy bum or both. They cleared the drain holes/tubes on the second visit.

I could understand how a $40K Explorer might leak, did not expect it to happen on an X5 that costs 2x as much. I hope the BMW techs are 2x smarter.

I've asked this in previous threads but still no reply. Maybe someone knows if the cleanout is covered in the Bentley X5 manual? And also if someone is going to do it, can they do a write-up?
