Any cure for a sticky caliper other than replace it?

Definitely a seized piston from what you are describing.

You can buy after-market caliper repair kits which come with pistons, o rings, new dust cover/gator and silicon grease. My piston was seized as the seal had degraded and was allowing water to pass into the chamber.

Despite what most garages will tell you, you dont need a new caliper.

Its just easier for them to replace and charge ridiculous amounts of labour.

Do it yourself, if you are able to, you'll save a fortune.

ALso, I would recommend getting a 1 man bleed kit to complete the job if you will be working alone.

At least his first post was a helpful one. Even if a decade late.

A colleague at work once replied to a 3 year old email. He'd accidentally sorted his Inbox in ascending order and didn't notice the date of the email. You can imagine all the jokes that befell him. We all had a good laugh in good spirit .

With the cost to buy a repair kit and maybe some new pistons if they are rusted, you can get rebuilt caliper for under $60.00
