"low tech" to "high tech" cluster swap?

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap from the "low tech" cluster to the "high tech" cluster in a '01 X5? Both clusters would come from a 3.0L model.
I searched but could not find any info on this specific topic.

I read in a thread that there is a topic about this on the main page but, I can't find that either...

Thanks,

Brian

What do you mean by "swap" ? You would have to get the cluster reprogrammed by BMW you know that right?

Yes I understand that, but aside from that I am trying to find out if changing out the lo tech cluster for the hi tech cluster is otherwise plug and play, or will some functions on the hi tech cluster not work in a X5 originally equipped with the low tech cluster?

I see. Sorry I don't know. Ask KiwiJochen, he might know.

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead, but the link provided is dead...

Any info out there to swap the low cluster for a high cluster?

I am used to the high cluster on my E38 and love that I can see the hidden menu items such as operating temps, battery voltage etc. so I would love to have the same functions in the E53.

My '05 3.0 has the low cluster and no NAV and no bluetooth, if that helps at all...

Thanks for any help in advance!

The link to xoutpost worked for me just now, but yes, I see the PDF link now autoforwards to Amazon.

BTW, I have an '01 with the high cluster and would much prefer to have empty space in there. Yes, a little box to put my GPS and phone would be much more useful than I find the high cluster to be.
