What's the replacement parts warranty?

I had 2 PDC sensors replaced in January (left rear outer and left rear inner), and here we are 2 months later and the same 2 are "bad". I find it hard to believe that the same 2 would fail in just a couple of months, but scanning the faults showed them both to be bad. But I'm out of the 4/50 warranty (still well within the 6/100) so the dealer is telling me they aren't covered under the parts warranty which only applies when still in the OE 4/50. Am I getting handed a line of BS, or is that true?

(and FWIW, every single sensor has been replaced at least once now, so I have very little confidence in the system not failing again.)

it is 2 years from the date of purchase. see reciept, also if you have CPO, pdc system is covered. defect code is 66200312 PARK DISTANCE CONTROL (PDC) CONTROL UNIT PERMANENT FAILURE.

Firstly, I understand that the parts warranty is 2 years.

Secondly, I am not sure on CPO coverage, but will defer to killcrap (nice screen name there...) that it is covered. I don't have a CPO warranty to check. I would note that you don't appear to have a PDC control unit failure, but rather a PDC sensor failure. Those seem to me to be two different things.

Finally, you asked originally what parts warranty coverage is. Parts warranty only applies to parts you purchase yourself, either over the counter or through a service work order. Leaving aside the two points noted above for a moment, if you had 50,000 mile warranty and parts were replaced just prior to it expiring, under the warranty, your warranty would still be only to 50,000. In that case, you didn't purchase parts at retail so the only warranty you have is to 50,000. If that wasn't true, the dealer could end up with an obligation to provide an endless warranty (if each part failed just prior to the parts warranty expiring). That just isn't how life works.

There should be a service department warranty on work they did, but that is usually a much shorter term, and only covers faults in workmanship, not in the part replaced.

All that said, if CPO covers it you should be fine. You just have to check that sensors are included along with the PDC control unit.
