In the quoted specs the iPhone is "NOT" included
as part of the list of devices that the cable will
work with. Knowing that leads me to believe it
will not work.

Does anyone know if it works with iphone 3g as well? (I don't see why not, but I do have a charger for ipod that doesn't work with iphone 3g, so who knows.) I don't understand this part of the description either... I think it is misleading:

"The dock connector also allows you to control the volume of your iPod through your stereo or computer instead of having to adjust the volume on the iPod."

I am sure you are still controlling the volume of the aux output device (car stereo, home stereo, etc.) and not the volume of the aux input device (iPod).

Anerbe...I just installed the Aux Input. Can you clarify what you mean by "press preset". Where is this function found - I have Nav no DSP.

thx

I'm using an audio cable from my ipod headphone jack to the aux jack. I've also turned up the ipod volume fairly loud.

Get the iPod cable the guys were talking about earlier. It's the one from EAS and for under $200 you''ll have a much better signal from the iPod.

This cable with the dock-to-mini plug gets a real line-level signal out of the iPod vs the headphone output, which is of lower quality when used in this fashion.

I went with the CD changer as I wanted the ID3 tags from MP3 CD's on our NAV screen, plus the increased sound quality when played regular CD's. Also a super-easy install with the 3 & 6 pin connections in the back of the X. No programing needed from the dealer, 4 bolts and it's in!

Good luck enjoy!

The radio station presets. # 1 - # 6. they will affect volume level, try them out.

Just understand that the point of those presets, which now work to 'preset' a sound level is so that when you switch the mode from Aux to radio or cd, the sound isn't suddenly extremely lout or extremely soft. Understand?

OK - I'm having a problem. I purchased the cable as listed from EAS. I also have an AUX input in my X5, which I've been using with the headphone out. When I plug the new cable into the aux jack, and then connect the dock connector to my Ipod touch, the sound is played through the ipod touch speakers, and NOT the aux jack. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? The aux jack still works fine with the headphone out cable.
