Question: Exhaust Cam Position Sensor
I pulled the CPS sensor (as part of a VANOS diy) and I noticed that there is oil / gunk around the electrical component / connection. See attached pic. This seems wrong to me. Is this normal? I am thinking I should clean it...suggestions as to what to use? |

That's not normal at all. You should clean it but you also need to find the source of the oil. The CPS could be cracked. If the oil came from a seal leak it wouldn't be inside the connector.
