Remote quit working

Car wouldn't open/close from remote. Central locking works because it works when I use a key.

Central locking button doesn't work as well...

It's 2003 X5. Anybody knows what is the problem?

Thanks!~

Do you have more than one remote? If so, do either of them work?

The battery is charged when the key is in the ignition. Are you regularly using the remote on the key you are attempting to use?

You could also try to reprogram the remote. Here are the steps:

1. Place key in the ignition and cycle back and forth between position 0 and position 1 five times very quickly
2. Remove the key from the ignition
3. While holding down the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times and then release the unlock button. The doors should lock and unlock to confirm the programming.
4. If you have another key to program then repeat step 3 for the additional remote(s). The doors should lock and unlock to confirm the programming.
5. Turn on ignition to finalize

I would try doing the reprogramming. Otherwise you are likely looking at a failed receiver module.

I tried reprogramming - didn't change a thing..

Do I have to do anything with receiver module like pairing/etc or just swap it out?

Thanks!

What if one key perfectly works, and the other does not work. Tried reprogramming the keys, only one successfully works still. Driven with second key for 2 days and tried reprogramming again, still nothing. Opened key and checked battery voltage, 3.0v on the multimeter.

Today I read codes with CarSoft:
In ZKE/ZVM:

8 Internal Fault

Then I cleaned it's memory and I got following code:

6 Earth for ZV and and FHs

Anybody have any ideas what to look for?
I'm still waiting for my Bentley manual to come in and then I will check earth at those modules..
