Is lowering the ride on an air ride a good idea?

Is lowering the ride on an air ride a good idea?

My friend who's a tech at the stealer says he can reprogram the ride height to be lower on my 4.8is. Its just a matter of some simple settings.

Will this cause the air struts/bags to fail prematurely? Will it make the ride harsher? Anyone done this before? Just curiously to see the plus/minuses of doing this mod.
