Advice on replacing this rubber intake part..
I got an SES code yesterday on my 06 X5 3.found out that the ribbed boot elbow on the part below (#8) is cracked. Suprisingly it is not covered by CPO. oh well. So I bought the part for $16 (dealer wanted $40 + $200 to install), and now I realize it's harder than it looks. There are three clamps holding it in place. One is pretty easy to get to from above, but I can't see what needs to come off to get to the other 2. Anyone have any ideas, please... and ThanksEd |

if I remember correctly, you'll have to either put the front end up on ramps or jack it up. Get a really long flat headed screwdriver and get to the clamp's screw from the left side of the motor through the engine bay. If you do this and it doesn't seem feasible, you might have to remove the skid plate.
