My X is beeping at me?

Hi all.
I tried searching the issue first, and found a few cases of Beeping X's but none quite the same as mine.

It started a couple days ago. I was leaving a parking lot, and heard two beeps (the beeps like when you shut the ignition off, not out of the horn) then that was it. A few miles down the road it did it again right after I hit the brake. So I tapped the brake again, two more beeps. All that is odd, but it gets odder. So in addition to that the next day, not only when I hit the brake would the dash beep at me, but it was right around dusk, before I had my headlights on, and as it beep the dash lights would flash, but only with the first beep (which I assume was probably happening the whole time, just not visible during the daylight). Which brings us to yesterday, I went to the movies to see Watchmen (which was more drawn out than Titanic, but not as bad a movie as 28 days later) and when I went to get out of my X, my dash beeped, my dash blinked, and also I got the annoying sound as if I left the lights on (which I did not), and this is all with the lights off, X off, and keys out of the ignition.

Has anyone even heard of this? My dealer said they had never heard of it before, and of course when I went up there Saturday, it wouldn't do it. However once I drove 20 miles back home, it started again, and hasn't stopped since. It just doesn't make sense.... All thoughts are welcomed. Thanks!

I don't the limit feature or the memo feature, and it's a different sound than the 37 degree chime.

Cliff Notes: Everytime I hit the brakes my dash beeps at me. Now symptoms seem to be getting more and more odd. Wtf? Please Help.

Hmmm .. .when the dash "flashes" .. is it more like a consistent flash or intermittent .. like when a loose bulb flashes.

When I had electrical wiring problesm with my HID upgrade for my fogs my dash would freak and the idiot lighs and stuff would blink in and out - but erratically. Not like a consistent spaced flashing. I needed the error-correcting harness.

Am I making any sense?

It's just one flash, and only with the first beep. Like when the ignition gets turned off, it makes two beeps. This is the same set of beeps, and it's one flash the whole length of the first beep, and only with the first beep. The second beep is dark. Does that answer your question, sorry, it's kinda hard to explain.

...and I haven't done any mods to screw with the electronics system. With exception to the angel eyes which I tapped into the ECU, but that was over a year ago.

Okay, I checked my 4.8 and it doesn't make any sound when I turn the car off or remove the key. However, it does chime when I turn the key to position 2 (when it lights up all them idiot lights). I think 3 or 4 chimes.

That's odd. I get the same chimes when I turn the key on (with the same chime noise as the 37 degree chime), but this is a lower pitched beeping on shutoff. It's always been there ( I think, unless I just got this used to it this quick ) Maybe it's something different where I have an '01 3.0. Thanks for your time and thoughts tho. I just flat out don't get it.

Hey Twins (not a hijack, I'll get to my main point in a sec) GREAT picture, best one so far!!!

Your problem is interesting since I never heard of the car beeping. 3 questions for you.
1. Where is the beep coming from do you think, the horn, the speakers, the gong module located in the footwell trim, or something else?
2. Can you record it and post it so we can hear it?
3. Not making fun of you here... are you sure something else in the car that might be connected isn't beeping itself? Reason I ask is that I'm driving one day and the stereo is off but I hear music, so naturally I turn the stereo off (again) and now it's on, because it was already off, so I turn if off again, now it's off, and I still hear music, so now I'm pissed that the radio is busted, but busted on, so I pull over and turn the car off, still hear music, now I'm furious, but not at the car or BMW, but at my dentist since I'm convinced a filling in my mouth is picking up a local radio station, but then I realize that it can't be a local station because the last song was Verdi and now it's playing The Stones, so now I'm really pissed since I'm convinced I must be picking up multiple Sirius channels, a different channel on each filling, and b/c I canceled Sirius, and now it appears they are still going to be billing me, and now for multiple channels, so then I restart the car to start heading over to my dentist's office to give him a piece of my mind, and reach for my phone to make sure he's in today, which is in the center armrest, next to my ipod which is turned ON, connected to my headphones and set at full blast. Oops.

1. It's not the horn, not the speakers, not the gong module (unless it's a multi-level gong module since it's different than the startup gongs)
2. Sure, I can record the sound tomorrow as I have nothing here to record it with.
3. I'm sure it's nothing else in the car. I thought that at first, but then it started doing all the other things as well, so I just figured I'd turn here and see if anyone else had ever heard of this....
