V8 Newbie to introduce in the forum
I have been reading the forum for months now and I admit already being addicted to it! As I know you are all longing for them, here are some pics of my preFL 4.4 http://www.xperiencexx.de/mitglieder/djrolo/x544c1.jpg http://www.xperiencexx.de/mitglieder/djrolo/x544b1.jpg http://www.xperiencexx.de/mitglieder/djrolo/x544c2.jpg http://www.xperiencexx.de/mitglieder/djrolo/x544d1.jpg http://www.xperiencexx.de/mitglieder/djrolo/x544d2.jpg Some facts about the basics and the few MODs - 2000 4.4i full sport package - 20" RH rims with 295/40 20 Falken Zietz (marvellous tyres!) - 50mm spacers on the rear each side to fit the rims to the body - Original BMW running boards installed - AC Schnitzer rear bumper still with the original mufflers - 35mm Eibach lowering on the front, 10mm lowering on the rear via OBD - MK3 Navi with still 4:3 display - 2x 7" TFTs in the headrests with OEM DVD player for entertainment of my 4 year old daughter - ///M pedal set (was pittly bought before I decided to go ACS...) still to come in 2009: - chrome gauge rings (already at home) - 300km/h speedo background incl. adjustment (4.8 look) - 140x80mm Fox high grade steel mufflers to fit the ACS rear bumper (already at home)...including sound improvement...ya all know... - update of rear lights to FL (already done for the outside ones, still looking for the inner ones) open wishes: - looking desperatly for a new front bumper (@dolphin_4_u, that should have been mine - Magnaflow X-pipe (if those were only buyable from Germany...) - MK4 with 16:9 display incl BM54 (prio xxx) - sound system re-engagement (there has been an complete Eaton system in it but the pre-owner took it out, all cables left in the car) - maybe a small rear spoiler Hamann style - M5 or LeMans style rear mirrors (adorable but not available!!!) - Angel eyes in my Xenons (but honestly.... I´m too scared to ruin them) Coming from Germany I really like the opportunities of MODs you are pleased with in the US.....and I´m jealous I would like to be able to give my XX some of your MODs but... either you can´t buy them in Germany (X-pipes) or they are not allowed (thank you TÜV). Hope I am welcome in your group. Wishing everyone a good week and safe rides! Cheers, Oliver |

Great car and a very cool ride with some really nice mods. Looks like you already know what you're doing!
If you want a nice x-pipe check out the Hartge one which is 50% off now. Can't be beat on looks that's for sure. |

Yep, I have it bookmarked. Give me a minute
Ok. Here is a link to the picture: http://www.hartge.de/e/cmsImages/a_2107.jpg For the listing, there is no direct link, you'll have to find it. Go to the Herbert HARTGE GmbH & Co. KG - Tuning für Ihren BMW homepage. Click on the link on the left side called "Accessories and Special Offers" A new image will pop up and in the lower right corner area it will say "HARTGE Accessories" and also "Special Offers". Click on "Special Offers". Scroll through the list. It will be the 28th item. The 27th item is exclusively for the 4.8is. The one for the 4.4i and 4.6is is different and shown below. BTW, hey I know where Augsburg is! It's like 35 miles from Munich, which is like a 5 minute drive for you. Last edited by X5 Meister; 03-24-2009 at 04:05 AM. |

Great, finally found it ;-)
Regarding the cost in comparison with Magnaflow Magnaflow Tru-X Pipes it´s far more expensive! quote: HARTGE Rohr für Entfall Mittelschalldämpfer 18 53 0785 (nur Export) für X5 E53 4,8is ***** Restposten: jetzt 50% reduziert auf: EUR 248,78 inkl. 19% MwSt. (nur so lange Vorrat reicht!) X5Meister... would you dare to install such a MOD in Germany??? Cheers Oliver |

Yeah I know it's expensive. But if I personally was going to do it then yes I'd fork over the bucks. Hell, you can get a piece of cheap pipe welded in place for $30 over here, but it's not the same is it. All their stuff is super high quality and obviously very expensive. (I'd love their sports steering wheel, but it's $1700 !)
I thought it would be a pain in the ass for you to order from the states, given that some of the best tuning companies in the world are in Germany. And to answer your last question... if I lived in Germany, I wouldn't be driving an X5 ! It would be an M3 or M5 with a 40 kg brick permanently attached to the accelerator. Yes, the bucks is one thing.... the other is our "racing control team" (TÜV)...
So I´m not quite sure if I´m going to do this. I think I will wait until the new mufflers will be installed and we will have finished the "sound improvement" If this does not lead to the intended V8 sound... I will take this into concideration cause Eisenmann, Bastuck etc are far too expensive. BTW: even if Munich is just 35miles away.... I have never been to the BMW museum (BMW world)... shame on me! Are there any opportunities to buy Xenon headlights with Angel eyes in Germany? Oliver |

:xoutpost:
Hi Oliver, Top looking machine you have there. Love those rims, although they look like they may be a pain in the arse to clean and detail. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you already. Go for it re angel eyes, one of the best mods you can do IMO. Especially when they're done properly with nice white n bright rings. Wow, 50mm spacers, I imagine those rims are flush with the body, maybe flares would finish them off nice. Curious to know k's travelled and any major service work done. Forgive my ignorance but what gives with the X X ? ![]() Anyway, good luck and happy motoring to you to X Foomph
