Got a e53 x5 3.0d manufactured nov 2004, how can I tell it has xdrive or not?

Don't have an answer for you but according to this thread all 04s have the xdrive. Even late 03 models had them.

All facelift E53 models in Europe have X-drive version 1.

Here in Australia the introduction of X-Drive came with the six-speed manual and auto gearboxes. Before X-Drive was introduced, both boxes were five-speed. I suspect that's the case in Europe also.

Facelift models of the E53 X5's have xdrive. It is possible to obtain parts to make a pre-facelift model look exactly like a facelift model. In order to confirm it, you can check the build date. All X5's built from 1st October 2003 has xdrive.

Be glad you have xDrive and not iDrive
